Kimberly Brown serves as the Director of Communications as West Virginia University’s P.I. Reed School of Journalism. Brown is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the School’s integrated marketing efforts, major event planning and alumni and donor communications.
Brown’s primary role is the planning and implementation of the School’s communication efforts, ranging from the website to recruitment materials and the annual alumni magazine.
In addition to managing both external and internal relations activities, Brown coordinates all of the major events for the School and the dean, including guest lectures and panel discussions, graduation ceremonies, and donor- and alumni-related events. She also serves as the primary contact point for media outlets throughout the state and region.
A native of Fairmont, W.Va., Brown received her bachelor’s degree in secondary English education from WVU’s College of Human Resources and Education. Brown later completed her master’s degree in instructional design and technology education at WVU.
After teaching public school in West Virginia and North Carolina and then working for both the corporate and government agencies, Brown returned to the university, joining the School of Journalism staff in July 2006.
